Is a C a passing grade at CSUF? ›

A grade of "D" (1.0) or better is required to satisfy all other GE requirements. [A grade of "D minus" (0.7) or lower is not a passing grade.] A grade of "C" (2.0) or better is required to satisfy the upper division writing requirement. [A grade of "C minus" (1.7) or lower is not a passing grade.]

Average GPA: 3.67

(Most schools use a weighted GPA out of 4.0, though some report an unweighted GPA. With a GPA of 3.67, Cal State Fullerton requires you to be above average in your high school class. You'll need at least a mix of A's and B's, with more A's than B's.

"Grade Forgiveness" units on the student's entire CSUF academic record count against the 16-unit limit. An additional 12 units of coursework may be repeated, but without forgiveness. Grades from both the original class and the repeated class will be averaged in the student's grade point average (GPA).

California residents and graduates of California high schools will be eligible for admission by earning a 2.50 or greater “a-g” GPA. Any California high school graduate or resident of California earning a GPA between 2.00 and 2.49 may be evaluated for admission based upon supplemental factors.

Faculty usually can determine what a 60 grade is. Usually it is a D-, but not all schools have plus/minus grades. Schools may only count as passing a C- or a C as passing.

Can I retake a class if I got AC at CSUF? ›

Students may repeat a total of 28 units maximum (16 units of Grade Forgiveness and 12 units of Grade Averaging) for courses where a grade of “C-“ or below was earned. A single course may be repeated twice, for a total of 3 attempts maximum.

In order to receive a Passed, you must achieve a grade of C or better. Work done at the level of C- or below will be given a Not Passed and you will earn no units toward graduation.

Grade point Requirements

Undergraduate students must maintain a C (2.0) average in all courses attempted at Cal State LA and any other college or university attended and to make satisfactory progress toward their academic objectives.
